Alexander Borisovich Petrov (Shura Petrov)
After the secondary school, in 1976 he entered the Leningrad Art College
named after V.Serov, at the Theatre Faculty. He graduated from it in
1980, and at the same year he entered the Institute of Theatre, Music
and Cinema. He graduated from the Institute in 1985 as artist and set
designer. From 1985 till 1989 he worked at the Vologda Drama theatre as
set designer; there he created 12 performances. In general, he created
set design for 25 performances in Moscow, Astrakhan, Barnaul and other
cities. In 1989, he returned to Petersburg where he worked as icon
restorer and set designer, easel painter.
Since 1981 took part in autumn and spring exhibitions of the Petersburg
???Manege??? and at the gallery Pushkinskaya 10. Then, he signed
contract with the Davidson Galleries in Seattle (U.S.A.); from 1991 till
2001 he lived in America and worked with galleries on the eastern and
western coasts of the U.S.A. In 2000, he was invited to Russia to design
the nomination of TAFY. Since 2002, he has been living in Moscow,
working on the TV and painting.
He cooperates with the galleries of the U.S.A.: Davidson Galleries,
Seattle; Grant Gallery, New York; MiMi Ferzt, New York; Turner carol
Gallery, Santa Fe; Old Dollar, San Francisco.
In Russia: galleries Kino, Moscow; Krasnyi Most, Vologda; Sam Brook,
Moscow. He took part in many art fairs in Russia and abroad. more
